Borysław Czyżak, Ph.D.

Education

Borysław Czyżak is a graduate of the Faculty of Physics of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. He was awarded a PhD by the Polish Academy of Sciences in 1991, and conducted classes for students of the Poznań University of Technology. He completed research internships at Oxford and Stanford University, at the centre of California’s Silicon Valley. In the second half of the 1990s, he joined the Warsaw office of McKinsey & Company, specialising in strategic consulting, he participated in projects for privatisation and strategic changes in industrial companies, airlines, telecommunications and banking. During this time he completed an MMBA programme in the Netherlands conducted for McKinsey.

Experience

Between 2000 and 2014, he was associated with the Swiss company Egon Zehnder International and its Warsaw branch office, and since 2007 he was a Partner at the headquarters of Egon Zehnder AG in Zurich. He also served as President of the Management Board of Egon Zehnder in Poland. He specialises in strategic HR consulting, owner supervision and HR development issues. In recent years, he was involved in a number of M&A projects, searching for staff, building supervisory boards, auditing executives in Poland, Germany, the UK, the US and the Middle East. In Poland, he worked with many companies from the WIG20 index, but he devotes most of his time to private companies owned by their founders.

He is an active investor in technology companies, a member of the Investment Committee of the venture capital fund Simpact. A founder of the Studnia Nadziei Foundation (i.e. The Well of Hope), which builds wells in Africa. He is married and has two adult children.

On 29 May 2015, by way of a resolution of the Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of Selena FM S.A., he was appointed to the Supervisory Board of the Company. Then, on 14 June 2018, and subsequently on 27 May 2021, he was appointed to successive terms on the Supervisory Board, based on consecutive resolutions of the Ordinary General Meeting.
