Selena Group, a global manufacturer and distributor of construction chemicals, has been awarded in the Polish Economy Crystal competition. The competition jury honored Selena in the “Responsible Business” category, noting its efforts to promote sustainable construction and mitigate climate change.
The “Polish Economy Crystals” competition recognizes the activities of Polish-owned companies and public figures involved in the promotion and development of the national economy. During the gala ceremony, awards were given to winners in five categories: local entrepreneur; support for small and medium-sized enterprises; responsible business; personality of the year, and exporter. The award for a company particularly engaged in the activities conducted in the spirit of responsible business went to Selena Group.
“Decarbonization of the construction industry and focus on sustainable development are essential elements of Selena Group’s strategy. When developing our products and services, we’ve always looked to ensure they are energy efficient and comfortable for users, features that today are part of the ESG goals. We’re committed to them as we believe that in this way we can join the fight for a better future for our planet. That’s more than a trend – it’s our duty to future generations. We find it satisfying and very important that our efforts gain recognition, and that an increasing number of companies set similar goals for themselves,” said Krzysztof Ościłowicz, Selena Group’s Financial Director, during the award gala.
When justifying its decision, the competition jury emphasized three important aspects that distinguish Selena’s operations. The first aspect is safe living and working conditions created at the places built with the use of Selena’s products. The second aspect is the strong focus on the natural environment – care about developing sustainable production and construction processes, and their impact on the environment, employees and residents. The jury also recognized Selena’s efforts to enable efficient construction by manufacturing high-quality products that help accelerate building processes.
The competition was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, and the Ministry of State Assets. The members of the Polish Economy Crystals competition were: Jacek Sasin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland and Minister of State Assets; Waldemar Buda, Minister of Economic Development and Technology; Adam Abramowicz, SME spokesman; Andrzej Sadowski, President of the Adam Smith Center, Professor Zbigniew Krysiak, Chairman of the Program Committee of the Institute of Schuman’s Thought, as well as Grzegorz Tomaszewski and Piotr Hofman from the Polish Economy Forum.
