The main objective of the collaboration between the Selena Group partners is to achieve a more efficient and sustainable supply chain, primarily involving the transport of diphenylmethylene diisocyanate (MDI). This raw material is a key component of Tytan Professional\u00ae brand polyurethane foams, which have been awarded the prestigious International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) Plus certification. This certification confirms the bio-component content of the products and a 30% reduced carbon footprint, meaning that the entire building construction using the foams is more environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new, more sustainable logistics solution proposed by Covestro in cooperation with DB Cargo BTT involves several stages. In the first stage, chemicals produced at Covestro’s plants in Germany will be transported to a rail terminal by dual-fuel (HVO 100) trucks. They are then transported by rail – a mode that reduces CO2 emissions – to a distribution centre in Poland, where they are picked up by biofuel trucks for delivery to customers.
